چکیده

Abst ract. We st udy lat tice gas automata. of fluid dynamics in the incompressible flow limit . It is shown t hat t he viscosity effect on the transition layer from the steady uniform velocity in one strea.m to the steady uniform velocity in another , adja cent strea m produces t he correct profile. We further study t he intr insic damping or smoothing action of viscous diffusion and show that the results agree wit h t hose obta ined from the Navier-Stc kes equation. In both cases, we obtain a. kinetic viscosity II '" 0.65, consistent with the prediction of Bolt zmann approximation.

Lattice Gas Automata Simulation of Adsorption Process of Polymer in Porous Media

Lattice gas automata (LGA) model is developed to simulate polymer adsorption process by adding some collision rules. The simulation result of the model is matched with batch experiment and compared with accepted isothermal adsorption equations. They show that the model is viable to perform simulation of the polymer adsorption process. The LGA model is then applied for simulating continuous poly...

Unsteady-state Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling of Hydrogen Separation from H2/N2 Mixture

3D modeling of Pd/α-Al2O3 hollow fiber membrane by using computational fluid dynamic for hydrogen separation from H2/N2 mixture was considered in steady and unsteady states by using the concept of characteristic time. Characteristic time concept could help us to design and calculate surface to volume ratio and membrane thickness, and adjust the feed conditions. The contribution of resistance be...

Multi-particle-collision dynamics: Flow around a circular and a square cylinder

– A particle-based model for mesoscopic fluid dynamics is used to simulate steady and unsteady flows around a circular and a square cylinder in a two-dimensional channel for a range of Reynolds number between 10 and 130. Numerical results for the recirculation length, the drag coefficient, and the Strouhal number are reported and compared with previous experimental measurements and computationa...

Lattice Methods and Their Applications to Reacting Systems

The recent development of the lattice gas automata method and its extension to the lattice Boltzmann method have provided new computational schemes for solving a variety of partial differential equations and modeling chemically reacting systems. The lattice gas method, regarded as the simplest microscopic and kinetic approach which generates meaningful macroscopic dynamics, is fully parallel an...

Calculation of Friction Coefficient and Analysis of Fluid Flow in a Stepped Micro-Channel for Wide Range of Knudsen Number Using Lattice Boltzmann (MRT) Method

Micro scale gas flows has attracted significant research interest in the last two decades. In this research, the fluid flow of gases in the stepped micro-channel at a wide range of Knudsen number has been analyzed with using the Lattice Boltzmann (MRT) method. In the model, a modified second-order slip boundary condition and a Bosanquet-type effective viscosity are used to consider the veloci...
